The Management Comittee Election Candidates are as follows:
Candidate: Keith Smith MBA
Proposer: Patrick Cuneen
Seconder: Keith Knight
Address: Although now living outside the borough, I'm Enfield born, taught,
married and bred. When I was a lad I would go along with dad and sit in the
stand at Southbury Road. In recent years I've been doing the same with my
teenage children (except we stand behind the goal). Listen and there is just
a chance you'll hear me shouting.
You need a balanced supporters' society board that has the skills to deliver
the vision, strategy and structure of a new ground, winning team and a
community based club. I have a Masters Degree in Business Administration and
I am a self-employed business consultant/ projects manager. My normal work
involves understanding needs, specifying needs in business terms, managing
tendering processes, negotiating and managing expensive business projects
from start to finish, on time and to budget.
I am encouraged that many supporters are doing something to help the club and
I would like with your support to use my skills to do my bit.
Candidate: Frank Cartwright
Proposer: Andy Hatvani
Seconder: Derek Robinson
Address: My name is Frank Cartwright, 53 years old, married and have two
grown up children. I have supported Enfield since the early 1980's and have
always been proud of our heritage. The supporter's decision to breakaway and
form ETFC was brave and although we must remember our history it is important
that we look to the future and plan accordingly.
The clubs objectives are ambitious, demanding and achievable. Trust, patience,
consultation and good communication will be required as the way we run our
club will impact on supporters and community alike.
To conduct our business we will need to adopt a professional approach. I am
very positive with skills in man management techniques and project management,
which are key in helping achieve the clubs ambitions, and in building
relationships between supporters and the local community. I would
work enthusiastically as part of the team making a positive contribution to
the club and its supporters, as I believe a positive approach will help in
the challenges and potential threats to be faced.
I wish you to consider me a suitable candidate for election to the Society
Board and I look forward to the prospect of working together towards our
common goals.
Candidate: Gordon Bentley
Proposer: Martin Bentley
Seconder: Patricia Bentley
Address: I am a retired Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries (age
72) and therefore not only have extensive business and administrative
experience but some spare time to make them available to the benefit of
Enfield Town Football Club. I have supported Enfield FC and now the Town for
over 20 years and regularly attend home and away matches. I can usually be
found standing behind the goal with a motley crowd of other football nutters
and therefore if elected will always be readily available to listen to
members comments and suggestions.
Candidate: Roger Reed
Proposer: Cheryl Reed
Seconder: Dave Bryant
Address: Since being asked to take on the role as Secretary of our club I
believe I have demonstrated my ability as an administrator.
My skills have developed through a long career in senior management with the
Post Office and more latterly in a variety of posts within the world of
football. I was Secretary of Enfield FC for four years and a member of the
Ryman League Management Committee for two years before giving up both
positions to join Enfield Town.
I am currently employed by the Middlesex County Football Association as their
Football Development Officer, a post that has given me considerable insight
in to funding opportunities and the related procedures. I ask for your vote
to enable me to employ my skills and experience for the benefit of our club.
Candidate: Paul Millington
Proposer: Dave Bryant
Seconder: Roger Reed
Address: The Committee's efforts to date have brought us to the point where
we are again enjoying being part of a football club in Enfield. I am proud to
have served as Vice Chair of the EST and as a Supporters Representative on
the Council's Task Force during this time.
There is still however a long way to go. The task of securing our own ground
is clearly our priority and it will need even greater efforts to achieve
this. I am confident that by gaining the backing of the council the club will
go from strength to strength and reclaim what was lost when Southbury Road
was sold. I would welcome the opportunity to continue to be part of the team
that will work tirelessly to further our club.
Candidate: Dave Bryant
Proposer: Paul Millington
Seconder: Roger Reed
Address:I would like to ask for your support to continue to serve on the
Enfield Supporters Society Board. As some of you will know as the current
chair of the Society I have had the privilege of being acting chair of
Enfield Town FC. I am very proud to have been involved, as have so many, with
the creation of a unique football club, one that is owned, run and largely
financed by it's supporters. To date in many respects we have exceeded our
expectations but there will undoubtedly be set backs on and off the pitch.
However when difficult decisions have to be made they will be made by the
clubs supporters. The major obstacle facing the club over the coming months
will be the search for a permanent home which we can develop to allow our
club to progress. This will not be easy and may take longer than we would all
want. Although the interim executive of the society is already attempting to
make progress on a permanent ground I believe this must now be our top
priority and if elected I would like the opportunity to complete this work.
Candidate: Martin Cantrell
Proposer: Dave Bryant
Seconder: Paul Millington
Address: I am currently a member of the management committee of the ESS. My
main contribution has been in respect of our constitutional structure and our
important relationships with the Co-operative movement and Supporters Direct.
I seek election to have the opportunity to carry on with the work to get our
team back to the Conference with a ground of our own in Enfield. A ground we
can be proud of and where we, and all members of the community, can enjoy
football. Our ground will provide a focus for our football in the community
schemes. I would work to ensure that our club is run democratically and
efficiently. To progress we need both a strong football team and a strong
management team.
I started supporting the other club in the 1960's, and although I have not
always lived locally, continued to do so until our club was created.
I attended Lavender school and then Enfield GS. I then studies law at
Liverpool University and qualified as a solicitor. I now lead the team of
employment lawyers providing advice to two Government Departments.
Additionally, I have an MBA from the Open University. I am married with a son
and a daughter.
Candidate: Andy Hatvani
Proposer: Derek Robinson
Seconder: Ian Robinson
Address: I have been a member of the original committee since its inception
which initially developed the Enfield Supporters Trust and now, more
recently, Enfield Town Football Club.
I feel very proud to have been associated with local, enthusiastic people who
have been able to take on an established "organisation" and show that
football in the community is not just about money.
During the last 16 months, many hours have been spent by many people in
bringing us to where we are now and it is to these people we all have to give
a vote of thanks because without their efforts none of this would have
happened.
To see the atmosphere generated on match days, and the support received by
all, leads me to believe that we have created a successful community football
club which can only get better in the future. I wish, with your support to
carry on being part of its continued development.
People come and go, roles change, and new ideas are developed and taken into
consideration so I call upon all fans to continue with their support for
their new committee and enjoy the good times which we hope lay ahead.
Candidate: Derek Robinson
Proposer: Raymond Gains
Seconder: Ian Robinson
Address: I am a member of the current ESS Management Committee and am seeking
re-election to the society's board.
I was an active supporter of EFC for many years and had served on its General
Purpose Committee for a considerable time, latterly as its chairman.
The past eighteen months have been, in turn, frustrating, depressing and
finally, exhilarating. Following the initial success of ETFC on the pitch, I
look forward with eager anticipation to the ongoing efforts that will be
required to bring about the delivery of a permanent home of its own for the
club within the borough, from which we can not only drive the march of the
first team up the non-league pyramid, but can also further our commitment to
the support of youth and ladies teams and other 'football in the community'
schemes.
Candidate: Ciaran Glennon
Proposer: A Glennon
Seconder: T Willard
Address:The future of Enfield Town Football Club is in Enfield. Having
worked with the Management Committee to establish the club, I believe it is
now essential to concentrate on providing a permanent home within the
community. In order to build on the success of the past few months, it is
necessary for the club to work with the local community and the council to
build a new force in football within the Borough of Enfield. I would like to c
ontinue with the work being done to ensure a successful club for the people
of Enfield to be proud of.
Candidate: Keith Wortley
Propsoser: Steve Wortley
Seconder: Paul Reed
Address: Many of you will already know that I carry out the duty of Football
Secretary, having done so since the beginning of our inaugural season.
My experience dealing with football administration and relating to supporters
goes back to 1985 when I was invited to become Membership Secretary of
Enfield Football club.
For the 1987-88 season I gave up this role to become Football Secretary,
gaining experience of administration in the Football Conference.
From season 1990-91 until the formation of Enfield Town Football Club I was
in a similar position dealing with matters relating to the Isthmian Football
League.
During that time I have gained a broad knowledge of football administration
dealing with the many personalities involved in the game.
It is my intention to stand for the position of Football Secretary for the
coming term and I look forward to your support at the AGM on 24th October.
Candidate: Paul Reed
Proposer: Rebecca Heal
Seconder: Scott Reed
Address: I am currently a member of the ESS executive committee and would
like your support to continue this.
The ESS have achieved so much in a very short space of time. There is
however, still a great deal to do, most importantly to find a permanent home
within the borough and to establish firm links with the local community. I'm
sure that with the backing of the supporters and the council, the new
committee will be able to deliver these objectives.
I have taken an active role in the running of Enfield Town FC, I was
responsible for the sales and administration of Season Tickets and I also
assist in managing the finances of the club.
I have supported football in Enfield for over 20 years and was on the
Supporters Club Committee of Enfield FC where I served as Secretary before
leaving to join what is now the ESS.
Candidate: Scott Reed
Proposer: Julie Higgins
Seconder: Lee Harding
Address: After many months working for the future of football in Enfield I
would welcome the opportunity to continue serving on the Society’s Management
Committee.
I have mainly been involved in the commercial and administration side of the
Society and have found ETFC’s evolution both challenging and rewarding.
Whilst I am proud of what the Management Committee has achieved so far I am
under no illusions as to the difficulty of progressing up the football
pyramid. Many more months of hard work and no doubt set-backs lie ahead and
we have to treat our disappointments the same way we have treated our
triumphs and build on them.
I ask the membership to elect me on to the Committee in order that I can help
continue the work of the ESS Management Committee and give the community of
Enfield what they deserve - a football club in the borough at the highest
sustainable level possible.
